Park Cars: At Grid Reference SJ 939 611. Take the A523 from Macclesfield to Rushton Spencer (beware, speed traps). After 0.5 miles, on a sharp bend, turn right on to Beat Lane. After 200 metres go over a bridge and immediately turn left on to an access road. Park on the left before the overhead bridge – in laybyes or on the roadside. Free, no toilets.
Walk Details: Walk through farm fields and lanes to Horton and Harper’s Gate and then along the aqueduct to the Lakeside Café and then use the well-made tracks on the west side of the Lake in the afternoon. There are some short climbs and some fields may be muddy and hold cattle. Stiles are varied but are generally sound.
