Guidelines For Members and Leaders

Further to incidents on Club walks towards the end of 2021, it was determined by the Committee that certain Club documents required revision in order that further incidents of a similar nature i.e. Members undertaking Club walks that are beyond their capabilities and walk leaders being subsequently compromised, are minimised. This work has now been completed and as a result of this:

The document – “Guidelines For Members Taking Part In Club Walks” has been revised, and the current version is now “Issue 5, November 2021”

A new document – “Guidelines For Leaders Of Club Walks – Issue 1, December 2021” has been produced.

The new documentation outlines and clarifies that leaders of Club walks have the right to refuse a walk booking from a Member if the leader(s) consider that the walk is unsuitable and unsafe for the Member to undertake, and/or that the safety of the anticipated walk party could be compromised.

Both of the above documents can be found on the “Members Area/Documentation” page of this site. Please familiarise yourself with each of these documents, which are provided in an effort to provide safe and enjoyable walking with your Club.
